Ponzimulator
The Ponzi scheme simulator that will send you to the moon!
Ponzimulator is a funny, slightly cruel, Ponzi scheme game, where players must attract victims to their scam and buoy their stock by reimbursing the right marks at the right time.
This game was made for Ludum Dare 48 over the span of a weekend.
My team included Alexis Martineau and Thomas Porta on the programming and gameplay design portion of the game, as well as Sophie Artemigi who provided additional voice acting.
We came up with the idea of a pyramid scheme game, one where player sank further and further into financial crimes, in response to the theme for Ludum Dare 48, which was "Deeper and Deeper".
This project is rather different from the other video game projects in my portfolio, as it is the only one where I did not hold a programmer role.
Instead, I composed (badly), played (poorly) and recorded (on my phone) the game's original soundtrack, which features such instant classics as "Small Town Folk", "Big Town Blues", "Fanfare for the Scamming Man", an arrangement of Beethoven's "Ode to
Joy" for alto saxophone and echo-y kitchenette walls and, finally, the "Ponzimulator Theme".
I also animated the main menu opening sequence and provided most of the sound effects for the game, the only exception being Sophie's enthusiastic "Ka-Ching!"
