Cute Axolotls and Chinese Philosophy

In Ax-Tract, the player must guide two axolotls to their new home, facing obstacles that they can only face by both embracing their differences and coming together.

Ax-Tract was made for the 2021 edition of the Games Jobs Live Game Jam.

My team included Sarah Lanaway, JJ Fox, Rafif Kalantan, and Ben Gardiner.
The theme for the gamejam was "Strength lies in Differences", which prompted us to look at how a series of obstacles could be overcome using differences present in different characters.

I was charged with implementing the main character controllers for the two amphibian protagonists, as well as the combination system whereby they become one.

Additionally, each axolotl could pass through certain barriers based on their attribute (light or darkness) and therefore solve the puzzles implemented by Sarah.
