Project Robotto: Hack + S.LA.S.H

Intense local co-op shooter for two players

Project Robotto: Hack + S.L.A.S.H is a two player top-down 3D shooter, played in local co-op.

It takes players through a futuristic adventure as they storm a cyberpunk-ish corporation’s headquarters, on a mission to retrieve a microchip. They must defeat hordes of robots and a final powerful boss character, using both their shooting abilities and hacking skills to get through them!

The game must be interpreted as the first level of what could hypothetically be a much longer and fuller experience, a full campaign to be experienced with a friend.
Project Robotto was developed for the "Moments of Consequence" module of my master's degree. This module, contrary to most others on the course, must be completed as a pair with another student, which is why my co-designer on this game is Aisosa Ugiagbe.

The other team members include our producer Karima Sammout Kanellopoulou, writer Matthew Dickie, voice actors Jess Nesling and Andrew Smith, and sound designers Carlos San Juan Juanchi and Diego Hernandez España Cadena.

While Aisosa focused on the visual and musical side of the game, producing excellent animated character models, UI elements and a sick soundtrack, I implemented our gameplay mechanics.

This project was an opportunity for me to delve into several fields at once: co-op gameplay, split screen camera systems and control schemes, environment and level design, and finally coding the three phases of our final boss battle (Slam-Down, Rocket Barrage, and Roly-Poly).
